Project R&R - World Solidarity Petition to End Chimpanzee Research in the U.S.
Non-U.S./non-Canadian Citizens: Sign to Show Your Support
As we build momentum to end chimpanzee research in the U.S., your signature and that of millions of others across the globe will build a strong case for our Campaign. All non-U.S./non-Canadian citizens please sign today! We encourage you to email your friends and family to get as many people as possible to do the same, building on the growing awareness around the world that experimenting on chimpanzees is wrong (click here to read about the EU and other international bans.)
The petition will be delivered to key U.S. legislators by NEAVS/Project R&R as we move forward with our efforts to change.
Chimpanzees are humankind's closest genetic relative, sharing 96-98 percent of
our DNA. An estimated 1,000 chimpanzees are currently held in U.S. laboratories,
of which some 600 are federally owned.
The time has come for the United
States to join the moral and humane community of countries like Belgium,
Balearic Islands, Austria, Japan, Australia, Sweden, the Netherlands, New
Zealand and the United Kingdom that have either banned or severely limited the
use of chimpanzees and other great apes in research.
We, the undersigned,
support the passage of U.S. government legislation to end to the use of
chimpanzees, and all great apes, in U.S. research or U.S. funded chimpanzee
research anywhere in the world. We strongly support the immediate release of
chimpanzees into permanent sanctuary.
